We are getting close to crunch time, so a few announcements are in order:
First of all, if you haven’t reserved your hotel room yet, please do it by calling the hotel at 1-800-323-3331 and telling them you’re with SOTA. Once space runs out, we won’t be able to guarantee to find you a room.
However, if you’re looking for a roommate, please let me know. We have had a few requests and I’m not sure of the status of these.
Third, we have one space left in the trade room. If you have an interesting product, it might be yours. Message me and tell me about your product and I’ll get back to you with further information. Note that our rates are very reasonable.
Fourth, current rates apply until September 25. PayPal is slated to close on October 30 at 10 pm but higher rates will apply from the 26th onward. And note that while we will take registrations at the door, please note that our policy is CASH ONLY. I have tried to arrange to take credit cards without success. The problem is that I am Canadian and therefore can’t get access to credit card processing in the US. Thank you for understanding. And if you pay via PayPal in advance, neither of us will have a problem.
And speaking of registration and the like, at the moment we have space in all pre and post conferences and all luncheons — although Aaron Fried is filling rapidly, so I would suggest you check on space before registering for that one. And since somebody asked, yes, you can sign up for just a luncheon and nothing else, but it would be best not to just turn up and expect there to be room. In fact, you have to be reserved by 10 am the day of the luncheon so we can get you food.
We will not be offering tickets to single lectures in the main portion of the conference. We MAY be offering half-day tickets at the door. We expect to be making a decision on that before month end. You can also sign on for just one day as usual.
I’ve had queries about the banquet. At the moment there is room. No guarantee at the door. I am working on the menu as we speak. Suffice to say it will be buffet and there will be 3 offerings plus salad, veggies, potatoes, bread, and dessert. You can sample all 3 entrees or just stick to one, as you like. We got very few complaints about the food last year. If you can’t decide, wait for a bit and I SHOULD be able to post the menu. That will help.
Also, we are contemplating offering face painting for the banquet. Stay tuned on that one as well.
Featured Speaker: Phil Meade
OK, now let’s look at one of our Saturday lectures/lecturers:
Phil Meade is a first-time speaker at SOTA, but he is well-known in the Michigan area. He is a published author and poet whose articles have appeared in the ISAR Journal as well as in a couple of scholarly anthologies. He is also a very engaging speaker. Here’s his topic:
Astrological Yantras from the East and the West
Yantras are mystical diagrams that have been used in India and the countries where the Hindu and Buddhist faiths were and are practiced. There are also a complete set of western “Hermetic” Talismans that are quite similar to the eastern Yantras. This lecture will introduce both and explain their uses.
Phil will be lecturing on Saturday afternoon.
Come and join us!
